Rules of Force is a fast paced thriller that is a huge step above what you usually find in this genre. It hits the ground running and keeps going at a good clip throughout. The only breather you get is when hero Connor Rix gets one. Which isn't often. As the story moves forward you meet well fleshed out characters that you grow to like more and more. Or in the case of the villians despise more and more. The action is tight and in your face personal. You learn what it's like to be a highly skilled fighter.I was really impressed with the way the author created a very believable not to distant future. The advancment in technology (hardware, software and biological) is something that is very likely to happen. I look forward to the next novel of the adventures of Connor Rix and his elite team.
Note to Hollywood. You would be crazy not to snap up this property while it's still available. It would make a great movie that I would be happy to pay to see.

I read all the books of this series in about a week, simply couldn't put them down, Steve Statham is one of my knew favorite authors.
I really didn't know what to expect, but was willing to take a chance on a new-to-me author and a genre I've not really explored. The story-telling was compelling from the very beginning. I cheered with the successes of Connor Rix and his cohorts, and literally booed the villains. Glad I'm now acquainted!
I downloaded this book for free while it was in a promotion.
Rules of Force centers around the chemical, biological, and mechanical enhancement of human beings and considers the ramifications to mankind. If you like action, this is an enjoyable read that delivers. I'd read book 2.

Exciting book and extremely well written. I am getting more from Mr. Statham!
This is a more plausible cyberpunk novel.
What I liked most about it is that it portrays a future world that is multifaceted. This view shows a future that has some aspects of society and technology better than today, and others creating new problems, and attracting sociopathic criminals. This is a refreshing improvement over many cyberpunk stories that give a one dimensional vision of the future. I also liked the author's narrative writing style.
Reading a first novel is always a little iffy - I know some great and funny writers, and their fiction attempts have been meh or worse. Not here, though - Rules of Force is a very exciting, very well written, and very fun read. Steve Statham has created an interesting future world - not so far ahead where we can't recognize things, but enough for tremendous possibilities for plots. Very nice how the world reveals itself throughout the book.
This is a very entertaining book - it took 3 or 4 chapters, and then I was completely hooked (taking a morning off of work to finish it). The story and characters are very vivid - it's almost graphic novel-like in how it reads. Good well paced action, and a great climax.
So, spend the $3, download, and then start waiting for the next Connor Rix book. I've read lots of series like this one, and not many have started as well as Rules of Force does.
